Weekend commencing: Sat, 18th March 2006.

The first of a new weekly feature, top tips will do exactly what it says on the tin. No, unlike Ronseal it won’t make your door look like an elephant has wiped it’s arse on it, but instead will give you the best tips for the weekend’s games all over the country, aswell as the best tips for Sunderland’s match.

Bolton Vs Sunderland

Match odds
Home win ? 2/5
Draw ? 11/4
Away win ? 6/1

First Scorer
Sunderland scorers unsurprisingly offer the best odds. But there’s a reason for that. I’m going for Stelios who seems to be hitting top form for Bolton and is notching in a few goals. Stelios – 9/2.

Match Score
You quite simply have to be a mad man to bet on Sunderland winning these days, but at the same time betting on a home win just isn’t worth it unless you put a fair whack on, which I won’t! Therefore I’m going to be optimistic and stick a couple of quid on a 1-1 draw. 1-1 Draw – 6/1

This week’s Accumulator:

Each week I’ll list 7 matches to back on an accumulator. Stick a couple of quid on and make yourself a swift ton!

This week, get your money on this lot to come in. If you win, you can get me a pint.

1) Everton vs Aston Villa – Villa are hit and miss at the minute, especially away from home, while Everton were impressive against Fulham. Home win – 4/5

2) Blackburn vs Middlesbrough ? Go for another 4/5 home win here, Boro did superbly to knock out Roma midweek but they may well suffer a European hangover and Blackburn are going strong. Home win – 4/5

3) Coventry vs Leeds ? A tough one for the Yorkshire men but if they’re to keep the pressure on Sheffield United they have to win these games. 6/4 is a decent price too. Away win – 6/4

4) Norwich vs Sheffield Utd ? Norwich were unlucky to draw at Elland Road last week and bar a resounding loss at Palace have been in decent form, while Sheffield United are feeling the pressure with Leeds sniffing at their heels. Draw – 11/5

5) Colchester vs Swindon ? With their 2 games in hand Colchester can climb to third in the league and will be expected to win this one comfortably with Swindon languishing in 23rd place. Home win – 4/7

6) Darlington vs Carlisle – Local rivals Darlington and Carlisle battle it out with ex-Sunderland players featuring strongly for both sides. Carlisle are riding high with Bridges on form and should win this. Away win – 11/8

7) Motherwell vs Hibernian ? Only 2 places separate these sides in the league and Hibs will be wanting to bounce back from a narrow defeat to Celtic while Motherwell will want to build on their 3-1 win over Falkirk. Draw – 11/5

Good luck, and next week see how my predictions got on!
