As reported here yesterday Andy Gray has completed a loan switch to Burnley with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

First reported here and here on Vitalfootball, the former Sheffield United striker today finally ended, at least temporarily for now, his nightmare stay on Wearside. It is expected that he will move to Turf Moor in a permanent deal for around £750,000.

Should this go through, it does mean Sunderland will have recouped most if not all of the money they spent on bringing him here only last summer, though of course it does not make up for his poor performances this term.

Of course he is not the only one, but Gray’s signing will be seen as one of Mick McCarthy’s worst buys this summer, especially considering the alternative’s that were available (Darren Bent, Henri Camara for example).

Nonetheless we wish Andy Gray good luck in his move, except on two occasions next season!
