One of the first rumours to come out this morning was that Sunderland were interested in Lazio striker Libor Kozak. But apparently Besitkas are also looking at acquiring his services.

Besiktas have already tried to get the 24 year old on loan but Lazio were having none of it. Coach Vladimir Petkovic has said that the striker can leave but that is very likely to be down to the fact that he is simply not scoring goals.

Sunderland have also reportedly been offered Cheikh M’Bengue, the player that was a target for the club when former boss Martin O’Neil was doing whatever it was he did.

The left back was a player that O’Neil wanted in his side, but the club decided not to pursue the Toulouse player. But as Sunderland are still supposed to be looking at full-backs, it’s only natural that M’Bengue should once again be linked, especially has he would like to move to England.

Walter Gargano is another player who has been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light, if reports are to be believed then Paolo Di Canio will step in to try and stop the player going to Fulham and get him to come to Wearside instead.

Apparently, the Uruguay international had been expected to sign for the Cottagers last week, but no deal was done even though Napoli have said that he is now surplus to requirements.

Whether Di Canio is interested in the 29 year old remains to be seen, or it could be that he gets linked with everyone moving away from an Italian club.

And finally, for now anyway, speculation has it that Sunderland are hoping to get their hands on Bologna centre-forward Robert Acquafresca.

The striker has been on loan to Levanteand in Spain for the last six months and it was originally thought he would be moving to Serie A side Livorno.

Hull City are also said to be interested in the 26 year old.
