Sunderland made it four wins out of five pre-season games last night when they overcame FC Midtjylland in Denmark.

The score was 1-0 to the Black Cats and it was Adam Johnson who got the all important goal, his first during the pre season campaign.

It was a game that Sunderland never looked like losing the lead once they had gone in front as they dominated play, the only wonder is how they didn’t manage to add to their goal tally and win the game by a bigger margin.

The home side started the better of the two sides, but it as Sunderland who took the lead when Johnson curled home the ball after being set up by the dangerous Altidore.

The hosts struck back and almost got an immediate equaliser when Frank Kristensen had a shot on goal but his effort was superbly saved by Keiren Westwood. After that there were further chances for Sebastian Larsson and Emanuele Giaccherini both of whom could have scored.

Changes were made or the second half with FC Midtjylland changing eight players in one go, but the closest either side came to scoring was when Stephane Sessegnon went close.
