Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher will soon be back to his very best says Black Cats manager Gus Poyet.

The Scotland striker has not been having the best of times lately what with injuries that have affected the number of appearances he has made in the last two seasons

The 27 year old missed the final two months of the season before last and last term was a complete disaster for the striker who could only manage seven appearances for the club due to Achilles and shoulder injuries.

But now it’s time for defences to look out because he is back to full fitness and raring to go with two goals under his belt from pre-season’s friendlies so far.

And Poyet believes that the spark is there once more and crowds should be able to see Fletcher back to his best.

Fletcher told reporters when asked about his fitness. “He`s delighted [to be back playing again]. That`s a big thing for a manager to have a player who is so happy at being fit and able to train every day.

“I am really looking forward to seeing Fletch on the pitch when the season starts.”
