Get a fans-eye perspective on the Reds ahead of Saturday’s game

Passionate Liverpool supporter Lee Shane (@the1lshane) joins us today to take stock of all things Liverpool ahead of Saturday`s clash at the Stadium of Light…

Hopes, fears & expectations for the season?

Hopes are that Brendan Rodgers is given time to implement his plan and now the backing after the massive balls up of August.

Fears tie into hopes; the fear is that they don’t give him enough time and that [CEO] Ian Ayre is still in a job by the end of September.

I still expect us to qualify for Europe next season, if we’re in touching distance of the top four by January then I think that’s realistic.

Is Brendan Rodgers the right man in your view?

YES, I was worried when I saw some of the names being linked in the summer but Rodgers has a plan and I think it will come good.

Reds’ supporters who are panicking already are just impatient, right?

Yes. We’re three games into a new season having played Manchester City, (should have won), and Arsenal (never in it), but there are a lot of twists and turns and fans need to be patient with the manager, players and the owners.

How big a mistake was it letting Andy Carroll go without securing Clint Dempsey first?

Personally if the rumours of the owners not wanting to pay over the odds for a 29 year old are true then I can live with that. If however, it is down to Ian Ayre trying to bully the market again then I have an issue. We should have tied someone up before letting Carroll go that’s a school boy error and Rodgers clearly wasn’t happy.

Has FSG’s halo has slipped rather following the Transfer Window just gone?

No I don’t think so. I think some fans have unrealistic expectations of the owners, we have signed some good players in the window and I’m sure that they will compete in January. I think the major sticking point with fans is the stadium and what is happening it has gone far too quiet on that front.

One player who you’d drive to his next club & why?

Stewart Downing, he hasn’t exactly set the world alight since signing and you would have hoped that the start Raheem Sterling has had would have pushed him to show more but that hasn’t happened.

One player you’d snare from Sunderland & why?

With our current lack of fire power probably Fletcher, not sure he’s worth £15 million but he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net.

Key man on Saturday? For us it`s Luis Suarez – if he’s up for it then Sunderland’s back four are in for a fun 90 minutes!

Match Prediction?

2-1 to Liverpool.

Cheers Lee, I think Fletcher will give your shaky back four an equally tricky afternoon if he gets the right delivery!
