A Daryl Murphy goal was enough to earn Sunderland’s second string a 1-0 against Wolves last night…

The main talking point was Gary Breen’s inclusion in the side, after being dropped from the first eleven the club captain was not even named reserve captain, as that was given to fellow centre back Neill Collins.

This fuels specualtion that Breen may well be one of the first to leave the club in the summer.

Sunderland outplayed Wolves for most of the match, with strikers Chris Brown and Kevin Smith also coming close to extending their lead.

Despite late Wolves pressure, Sunderland held on for the win, thanks to several smart stops from Ben Alnwick.

Sunderland: Alnwick, Hoyte, N. Collins, Breen,
Dennehy, Davison (Ball 75), Allen (Chandler 75), Bassila, Murphy, K. Smith, Brown (Weir 65).
