The Express reports that the 24 year old has been heavily linked with a move to the Stadium of Light as he looks for first team football.
But the move turned sour when the player could not get an assurance from Dick Advocaat that he would be sure to play in most games.
Ilori has had loans with Granada and Bordeaux since moving to Anfield in 2013.
Must be a confident little oik if he is demanding playing time before coming.
