Danny Graham was feeling good this weekend after netting his first goal for Sunderland after a two year wait.

Graham, who was signed by Sunderland for £5 million, hopes that his season has finally taking off after paying back the faith that manager Dick Advcaat had shown in him.

His first goal for the club came at Goodison Park in the must win game against Everton, and that win came thanks to Graham and Jermain Defoe who wrapped things up with the second goal, his fourth for the club.

But the talking point was Graham’s goal that was very lucky and totally against the run of play when the ball deflected off him from a Jordi Gomez effort and then went in off the post.

But that wasn’t going to let the striker play down his goal, he told reporters: “It was a bit surreal to be honest the way it went in.

“I don`t know how it managed to spin like that and go in off the far post but I am delighted to score that first goal and hopefully I can kick on now.

“Hopefully, this can kick-start my Sunderland career.’
