Wes Brown says that Sunderland’s policy of taking one game at a time is paying off.

On Saturday the Black Cats made it two wins on the bounce for the first time this season when they beat Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park and that lifted them back out of the bottom three after a two week stay.

There is a long way to go and the next game is against Leicester City and with Arsenal and Chelsea to round off the season, Sunderland could do with beating the Foxes.

That win, along with things going well for Tottenham against Hull would see Premiership football at the Stadium of Light next season.

Even so, the club have not been looking at the Leicester game before the start of this week.

Brown told the Chronicle: “We knew the games we had left, but we always focused on the next game.

“We went to Everton last weekend knowing we had a chance, but we haven`t started looking at Leicester at all until this week.

“Obviously the lads got the win against Southampton and then same again against Everton, so we`re showing the commitment. We`ve just got to keep it going and try to get a result on Saturday.

“No-one wants to be in the bottom three, but we`ve got to show the same work-rate and commitment in the last three games now.

“Hopefully we can get more results.”
