It’s rumoured on the Chronicle Live website that the Cherries will come forward with an offer for Defoe which would take him back to the club he had great success with a few years ago.
It’s said that they feel an offer of £5 million would be enough to see the Premier League struggler’s tempted to cash in, but his goals lately must have proved to the club that he is an essential to any hopes of staying up.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is friends with Defoe and also an admirer.
He said: “He`s still one of the best players I`ve played with.”
