Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has fired another warning at his players as he does not believe he is getting through to some.

Simple instructions that he is giving to his players ahead of games are not being carried out at that was plain for all to see during the game with Aston Villa on New Year’s Day when his side went down 1-0.

The Sunderland boss has now warned that he is not going to put up with this any longer as he wants everyone fully behind him as he tries to mastermind an escape from the drop into the Championship.

‘Me, I am the head coach, I coach the players I have got the best I can,’ he told Sky Sports.

‘For moments, it looks like we are getting it and getting better, and for moments, it looks like I am coming from another planet, which is difficult to accept.’

Poyet just wants his players to all pull in the same direction and act like a team instead of a bunch of individuals on the field.

He added: ‘If you go on the pitch and everyone is playing their own game, it’s impossible. I said it two months ago: there are not going to be heroes here, we are all in it the same and we will all be safe or we will all go down.’
