Wickham Picks Up Top Player Award.

Sunderland striker Wickham has picked up the Barclay’s Premiership Player of the Month award for April.

Wickham returned to the Black Cats from his loan spell at Leeds and has not looked back since, hitting five goals in his last three games.

Since his return, he has scored twice in their 2-2 draw with Manchester City, grabbed one against Chelsea when they won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and slammed in two against Cardiff last time out.

This has all helped take Sunderland from rock bottom of the table to just outside the play offs on goal difference.

Wickham said: ‘It’s fantastic for me, personally, to come back from what’s been a difficult season. I’ve come back and I’ve worked hard and it’s paying off now.’
