Wickham Back At Stadium of Light.

Connor Wickham is back with Sunderland after being recalled from his loan spell with Leeds United early.

Wickham went to Leeds in favour of a trip to Wembley with the Back Cats and should have stayed at Elland Road until the end of the season.

But Sunderland are desperate for someone who can score goals and as Wickham proved he can do that at Sheffield Wednesday, it might just be his chance to shine in the Premier League.

‘We’re disappointed to lose Connor, but I’d like to thank Gus for allowing him to come here,’ Brian McDermott told reporters.

‘He has done extremely well for us and we wish him well for the future.’

Wickham made five appearances for McDermott’s side since, but failed to score during his stay.
