Sunderland’s David Vaughan has picked up an injury while on loan at Nottingham Forest that will keep him out of action for around three months.

The 30 year old midfielder has an injured knee and Forest boss Billy Davies confirmed that he was to be out for some time, but hopes to get him back at the City Ground at a later date.

He said: “He has picked up a fractured patella (kneecap), which unfortunately will keep him out for the best part of three months.

“But we`re developing a squad for the future, that is our objective when we sign this type of player, and we hope he`ll be able to come back before the end of the season.”
