All looked well for the Black Cats in their last game against Newcastle, they won the game by outclassing the opposition and a great goal from Jermain Defoe, but on Saturday it all came undone in 17 second half minutes.
The was a distinct lack of effort by the Black Cats against Palace and the 4-1 reverse has left the club two points clear of the relegation zone with some difficult games coming up.
The first of which is against Stoke City but by then, Burnley could have pushed Advocaat’s men into the bottom three on Saturday by beating Everton.
Van Aanholt admits that it would be better not to have a gap running up to the next game, but they still have to get their act together and be ready for the Potters.
‘Of course, you would like to have another game straightaway to make it right,’ he told the Sunderland Echo. ‘But we have to move on and get ready for Stoke now. You have to see each game differently.’
