Miller, a Sunderland supporter, signed for Sunderland in the summer of 2005 from Ipswich Town after scoring 15 league goals in one season.

His arrival at the Stadium Of Light was greeted with delight but his performances were below par and he has since been a rare choice for the team. Reports suggest that new Sunderland boss, Roy Keane has told Miller he has no future with the north-east outfit.

Ipswich manager, Jim Magilton said: ‘Tommy is still a player who interests us.

‘He is not in the first team at the moment and we will keep an eye on the situation.

‘Something might still happen in January, if not sooner.’

Meanwhile, Sunderland’s allocation of 1,700 tickets for the trip to Portman Road on Saturday has sold out. Sunderland have sold out their last 3 away encounters.
