Three-Year Ban

Sunderland fan Liam Jones’ actions last season have cost him a three-year banning order.

He admitted to causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress following his actions in a game at the Stadium of Light against West Brom. The 22-year-old was caught making a money gesture towards Romelu Lukaku after he scored for the Baggies.

Initially he claimed he was doing a “chicken dance” and pleaded not guilty but did change his plea ahead of the trial.

There’s no place for such actions in any walk of life, it wouldn’t be tolerated in the street so shouldn’t be tolerated in a football stadium!
