Another player who has been linked with Sunderland is Costa Rica international Joel Campbell.
Currently with Arsenal, the striker spent last season at Olympiakos and news coming out of the Emirates is Arsenal have no plans to use him themselves this coming season, so it could well be off out on loan once again.
Campbell not only scored against Manchester United in the Champions League last term, he has just impressed while on World Cup duty and is expected to prove to be a big name for the Gunners in the future.
The striker has talked about how he would like to play in the English Premier League and the talk is that Gus Poyet would settle to get Campbell if he cannot get Fabio Borini who is training in America with Liverpool.
Of course if Sunderland want him, they will have to fight off interest from Southampton, West Ham, Newcastle United, Leicester City, Burnley, West Bromwich Albion and Everton.
The Daily Mirror reckon that Newcastle United have been offered Campbell as part of Mathieu Debuchy transfer.
