Sunderland had another warm up game victory under their belts last night after beating Hartlepool 3-0.

But it took the youngsters to supply the goals as Gus’ first half team could not find a breakthrough despite dominating the game for long periods.

But mass changes at half time brought rewards as the youth team prospects showed that they are not too far off becoming regulars in the first team.

The whole starting eleven were changed and a goal from Carl Lawton and a brace from Andrew Cartwright made sure of the victory.

Striker Lawson hit the first for Sunderland after 70 minutes, he played a one-two with Mandron and then curled the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Two minutes later and it was two after a decent goal from Cartwright, then he made sure with the third, a deflected effort in the 78th minute.
