A bad season off the field for Sunderland continued today with the news that skipper Lee Cattermole and Nicklas Bendtner were arrested in Newcastle on December 6.

The pair join Titus Bramble in having brushed with the wrong side of the law this season.

On the same day as Martin O’Neill’s first press conference as Black Cat’s boss Cattermole and Bendtner were arrested up the A19 having been caught causing damage to cars.

The pair are believed to have been carrying out their ‘activities’ on Stowell Street, just yards from Sid James’ Park.

Both missed O’Neill’s debut victory over Blackburn Rovers lat weekend through suspension and injury respectively but should return for the Spurs clash this Sunday.

Bendtner has also been in a spot of bother himself recently when his card was declined in Copenhagen when ordering a pizza. The on-loan Arsenal forward asked staff ‘do you know who I am?’ before two ladies footed his bill.

You couldn’t make it up!
