Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce says that he will not be stepping in to sign Kevin Nolan even though he is available as a free agent after leaving West Ham.

The 33 year old was released by the Hammers and has been the subject of speculation with Sunderland being linked as Nolan’s next destination.

If Nolan was to follow Big Sam to the Stadium of Light, it would most likely be in the January transfer window as the Black Cats have just one spot available for a player and Allardyce would like to address the lack of goals that Sunderland have scored with that place.

There is not much chance of a proven goalscorer coming to the club before the window opens in January, unless Sam can unearth an untapped gem.
