A look at a few of the stories that have come to light over the last few days

The rumour mill has been pretty busy this last few days, one comes from the Northern Echo who reckon that should Dick Advocaat leave Sunderland, then their next target would be Burnley’s Sean Dyche.

There is no certainty that Advocaat will be leaving the club although he has always said from day one that he would be willing to step aside if it was in the best interest of the club.

But with just two points from their opening seven fixtures, fingers must be twitching over the ejector seat button.

Earlier, the Mirror had reported that Advocaat was ready to go and Sunderland were looking to Patrick Vieira as the man to get them out of trouble, probably because he was linked before Advocaat came.

The paper says that it is ‘a serious option’.

Sporting Life told us that everyone’s favourite nutter Paolo di Canio was interested in getting his legs behind the manager’s desk at managerless Rotherham United.

The Italian has been talking to his Brussel Sprouts in his garden since he left Sunderland, now he feels that he could fill the boots of the man going out, Steve Evans.

But quite sensibly, the Millers have said that they have no interest in giving di Canio the job with unconfirmed rumours saying that they would prefer Bez from the Stone Roses.
