Kevin Kyle scored two as Sunderland’s second string recorded a 6-1 win over West Brom at Durham last night.

A strong Sunderland side featuring Julio Arca, Kevin Kyle, Anthony Le Tallec and Nyron Nosworthy eased to victory over an inexperienced West Brom outfit.

Despite taking the lead early on West Brom were pinned back all game as Kevin Smith levelled the scores on 22 minutes. The youngster went on to complete a hat trick.

Julio Arca completed 70 minutes and will look to be involved this weekend away at Portsmouth. As well as Smith’s hat trick, Kyle will be looking to forge a way into boss Kevin Ball’s starting line-up after two well taken goals while a West Brom own goal completed the rout.

Sunderland: Murphy, Taylor, N Collins, Nosworthy, D Smith, K Smith (Graham), Arca (Ball), Woods, Dennehy (Dowson), Kyle, Le Tallec.

Subs Not Used: Carson.
