Black Cats keeper Costel Pantilimon feels that Sunderland will still be able to overcome Aston Villa on Saturday even though they will be without the influential Lee Cattermole.

Catts misses the game after picking up his tenth booking of the season at Hull City last week. Reaching ten yellow cards means that Cattermole has to sit out the next two games, first of them is the relegation clash with Villa.

Pantilimon knows that Catts will leave a big hole in the team, but feels that the rest have got his back and will do him proud as he watches from the stand.

The Romanian told reporters: ‘Lee is a good player, a good lad and a good team-mate. He is aggressive and he fights all the time for the team and he has great spirit.

‘He is a very important part of our team, but midfield players will pick up bans and we have to cope with that and make sure we can carry on.

‘This is the situation we have and we will have to adapt without him for the next two games. We have plenty of players in the dressing room and I think whoever comes in can do a great job.’

Cattermole’s tenth booking came at Hull and it was a pretty quick totting up of ten bookings having only played 21 times this season for the Black Cats.
