It’s looking increasingly more unlikely that QPR striker Charlie Austin could end up at the Stadium of Light in January.

It’s looking increasingly more unlikely that QPR striker Charlie Austin could end up at the Stadium of Light in January.

There has been talk of Austin moving away from Loftus Road for some time and according to Sky Sports, the player is being linked with Sunderland who really need to increase their fire power.

Austin hit 18 goals for Rangers in the Premier League last season and so far in the Championship he has scored seven times.

But he has been out of action since last months defeat against Fulham, but he is set to return very shortly.

Come the end of the season, Austin would be out of contract with QPR and as such would be free to look for a new club. This means that the R’s could lose the striker on a Bosman free transfer.

But at the moment, Austin is looking no further away than Shepherd’s Bush.

Austin is out of contract at the end of the campaign and would be free to discuss a Bosman transfer at the end of term.

He told Sky Sports News: “I can’t see myself leaving in January, because I’m concentrating on playing for QPR .

“I think I owe it them and my loyalty is with them, to help them and get promoted.

‘Football is a small career and you have to make the right decisions, the right moves, and if it’s right for myself, and my family and the people I bounce the ideas off then I will take on anything.’
