Midfielders Future Unclear

Lee Cattermole wasn’t “fit enough” to travel with Sunderland to Hong Kong for the Asia Trophy, and his future with the club remains unclear.

Cattermole’s no.6 shirt has been handed to Cabral, that added to the belief that Paolo Di Canio is prepared to let him leave the Stadium of Light has cast further doubts over his future.

Di Canio said: ‘He couldn’t come because he was not fully fit, in the opinion of both myself and the fitness coach.

‘He is training with the reserves and then when we get back to Sunderland, he will be ready.’

Asked if the midfielder had a future with the club he added: ‘We will see. It depends.’

Moving a player on isn’t always as easy as it seems, however I’d be surprised if Cattermole was with the Black Cats by the time the transfer window closes.
