Jurgen Klopp will not be in charge of Liverpool in today’s game with Sunderland after he developed a case of suspected appendicitis.
Instead, first-team coaches Zelkjo Buvac, Peter Krawietz, Pepijn Lijnders and John Achterberg will be on the touchline trying to oversee a victory for the home side. Buvac expected to lead with the management duties and speak to the media before and after the game.
Klopp has been taken to hospital but as yet it is unclear how long he will have to stay there or when the German will be able to return to work.
A statement on Liverpool’s official website read: ‘Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp will be absent from today’s Barclays Premier League fixture against Sunderland at Anfield, after suffering a suspected bout of appendicitis.
