Adam Johnson has been bailed by Durham crown court after he appeared today and pleaded not guilty to charges relating to sexual activity with a child and grooming.

The 27 year old spoke only to confirm his name and enter four not guilty pleas during the hearing.

The three sexual activity offences are all alleged to have happened at two separate locations in County Durham, while the allegation of grooming relates to a period between December 2014 and February 2015.

Judge Christopher Prince set a trial date of August 24th and the trial is expected to last for five days.
