Due to the fact that Adam Johnson has pleaded guilty to child sex charges in court, he will certainly not play in the Black Cats next game against Manchester United.

The Sunderland Echo tells us that Johnson appeared before Bradford Crown court and pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of grooming. Johnson denies two further charges of sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16.

When Johnson was originally arrested for the alleged offences last year, the club suspended him only to let him return after his bail was set.

Johnson is a native of Sunderland, he started his career at Middlesbrough before moving onto Manchester City and then a £10 million fee brought him back to Wearside in 2012.
