Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has been charged with improper conduct after the bust up with Steve Bruce on the sideline of the recent match at Hull.

But Poyet has denied the charge and has requested a personal hearing in relation to the going’s on on Tuesday.

Poyet got the charge after launching a coolbox holding bottles of water after referee Mike Reed booked Jack Rodwell for diving.

The referee came over to see what the fuss was about after being alerted by fourth official Darren Bond who also said that in his opinion it might have been better, and therefore less for himself to do, if Poyet was sent to sit in the stand.

Words were then exchanged between the two managers and Poyet offered his hand for Bruce to shake. Of course with Bruce being unable to know the right thing to do even if it jumped up and bit him on his arris, refused and Poyet gave him a short round of applause.

That seemed to anger the fat one and he had to be restrained as he tried to get at Poyet, who was by then heading for the stand like the good chap that he is.

The FA charged Poyet in the aftermath, Bruce was contacted by the governing body as to what his responsibilities are.
