Emanuele Giaccherini says that he prefers playing a more central role for the club after returning from injury last week.
‘I want to play in that central midfield role. I feel that is my best position.’ – Emanuele Giaccherini. |
The Italian international has come on as a substitute in the last two Sunderland games as an attacking midfielder and he has not done a bad job, a job that he feels comfortable with.
Giaccherini, who has just spent more than three months on the treatment table with an ankle injury, originally came to the club to fill a wide roll, but he does look better used in a more central position.
The Italian told the Gazette: “I want to play in that central midfield role. I feel that is my best position.
“I try to go between the lines, press and get into the box from there.
“I can play as a winger because in the last three or four years, I`ve played there. But I prefer to play in central midfield.”
Been doing a good job in the short time he has had there, be good to see him carry on where he is happy playing
