Sunderland fans have voted overwhelmingly in favour of Martin O’Neill when asked who you thought was more likely to become manager under Quinn’s new regime…

The Ulsterman got a massive 71% of the votes, with most Sunderland fans believing that, despite rejecting Newcastle and Middlesbrough, Niall Quinn is capable of persuading the former Celtic and Leicester manager to take charge on Wearside…

Should the takeover succeed, who is more likely to become manager?

-Roy Keane 7%
-David O’Leary 5%
-Martin O’Neill 71%
-Niall Quinn 2%
-Ricky Sbragia 3%
-Other 12%

Your second most popular choice was ‘other’, and with new names such as Sam Allardyce and Glen Hoddle aswell as existing favourites like Alex McCleish still in the running, they may have been the names in your minds as you chose that option.

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane came in third with 7% of the votes, and should he be appointed it would certainly raise a few eyebrows and divide opinion on Wearside and all over the country.

Not many of you felt that ex-coach Ricky Sbragia would land the job despite being held in high esteem by Quinn, while only 3% of you feel that the big man himself will take the job, despite suggesting that he may do so should he be unsuccessful in finding the right candidate for the job.

One way or another we should know who the new man is by the time Sunderland line-up against Forest Green on Saturday, as Quinn hopes to have a manager in place by then to take us onto the next stage in the club’s brand new era.
