Estudiantes Defender To Join Sunderland?

Argentine club Estudiantes say that Santiago Vergini is about to join up with Sunderland.

The 25 year old defender has only been with the club since the summer, but is now expected to team up with the Black Cats after Estudiantes president Enrique Lombardi confirmed that they expected Vergini to leave.

‘He wants to leave Estudiantes, and as he isn’t a player that is considered as principle in the squad, we have accepted his departure,’ Lombardi told Diario Ole.

‘He wants to change team, and as there is a good offer that we have analysed, he will leave our club.’
