Derby Day Countdown

Well, it’s almost here, arguably the clubs biggest game for over a year as we meet the Magpies for the first time since 2008. Two more sleeps, 48 more hours of gut wrenching tension and build up as we pray it’s joy at the end of it and not weeks of pain to follow.

I’ve only witnessed 3 derby wins from 15+ years of being an SAFC fan. One was in person at the SoL, whilst the others were at the big screen showings at the Stadium. All three were superb occasions but i’ve never seen us pick up three points outside of a football ground. Surely that will change soon?

At work it’s all very quiet as people dare not say much for fear of a backlash on Monday morning. It doesn’t bear thinking about how I’ll feel walking in to work on Monday morning if it goes wrong…but then i’ve done it many times before!

For the record, I think it will be a 1-1 draw on Sunday and i’d happily take it. There are good arguments to be made for either result but I feel we will be just about solid enough to prevent what will be a strong Newcastle line up going forward scoring more than a single goal. I think since we are playing 4-5-1, it will be on the counter that we will offer the most threat. Prediction on scorer? NOT Darren Bent, i’m going for Michael Turner!

Ha’Way The Lads!
