Sunderland have re-called young goalkeeper Trevor Carson from his loan spell with League One Bury.

The Northern Irish ‘keeper will provide cover for Kieren Westwood who is the club’s only fit senior goalkeeper at the moment.

Simon Mignolet picked up a facial injury against Aston Villa and could be out for ‘months’ according to some sources whilst Craig Gordon is also out at present too.

Manchester United’s third-string Polish stopper, Tomasz Kuszczack had been linked with a loan move to the Stadium of Light but it now looks like Steve Bruce has solved the issue by re-calling Carson.

Carson has previously enjoyed loan spells with Lincoln and Chesterfield but is yet to make his Black Cats debut.
