Sunderland are hoping that they have made the right move in stopping the rot at the club by installing Sam Allardyce as the new manager.

Fans will be hoping that Big Sam will be able to work his magic and add Sunderland to the clubs he has rescued from the drop.

Allardyce arrives at the Stadium of Light on a two year contract and he starts sorting things out straight away ready for his first game in charge which will come away at West Brom next weekend.

Sunderland lost previous manager Dick Advocaat who walked out after seeing his side throw away their best chance of winning a game this season when West Ham clawed their way to a point after Sunderland had taken a 2-0 lead.

Sunderland will now be hoping Sam does what he does best and build a well oiled machine starting with the dodgy looking defence and working up.

‘I hope to be able to help to bring the stability and success that everyone wants,’ Allardyce said to the clubs official website. ‘Of course it’s a challenging job, but it’s something I have experience of in the past. I’m looking forward to working with the players and of course I will be relying on the help of the Sunderland supporters, whose tremendous passion I have experienced first-hand.’

Sunderland become Allardyce’s fifth Premier League club that he has been in charge of and it is Sunderland’s fifth managerial appointment since March 2013.
