Sam Allardyce says that he has been impressed with keeper Costel Pantilimon since he took over as manager of Sunderland.

Pantilimon played major parts in the last two games which the Black Cats have not only won but managed to keep a clean sheet in each game.

Big Sam has been talking to the Sunderland Echo, telling them that the save he made from Jonathan Walters early on in the game was crucial to his side taking the three points.

He told the Echo:‘It was an outstanding save, the goalkeeper is the second most important man in the team, for me.

‘He’s put his body on the line at a critical time of the game. Who knows how it would have panned out if that had gone in?’
