Alonso Deal A Non Starter?

According to reports coming out of Italy, Sunderland target Marcos Alonso will be staying with Fiorentina and not joining Sunderland.

There has been talks held between the Black Cats and the Italian club and there was hope that the two parties could have come to a deal for the player who spent the second half of last season at the Stadium of Light on loan.

Sunderland offered £2 million plus French defender Modibo Diakite, who spent time on loan last season at Fiorentina.

But now the Italian outfit have said that they want to keep Alonso, who is having a good pre-season so far.

But then again it just might be a ploy that Fiorentina are using to try and force a better offer from Gus Poyet.
