A Derby Win Is So Important Says Big Sam.

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is not in agreement with Steve McClaren about just how important the Wear-Tyne derby is this season.

The Newcastle boss is fooling nobody with his ‘just another game’ approach, Sam knows that he will be just as keen for his side to put one over Sunderland, just as much as Sam would love to see his side beat the Magpies.

McClaren says that the game is just another three points up for grabs, but deep down he will be well aware of Sunderland’s recent record against Newcastle and he will be looking to turn that around at all costs.

Sam on the other hand, is quite happy for it to be known that he takes this game as super-serious and is the one that nether side, fan or manager wants to lose.

Speaking to the Sun, Sam said: ‘No, it isn`t just another game – it is far from it, for me. It is one nobody wants to be on the wrong side of. Losing this game can have a more damning effect on you than any other, so we need to get out there and win.’
