Gary Hooper’s performances for Celtic in recent seasons haven’t gone unnoticed. England have had him watched several times, with a number of Premier League sides linked.

Reports in The Daily Mail are suggesting that Sunderland have become the latest side to show an interest and are hoping to “steal a march” by moving early for the 25-year-old.

Hooper’s scored goals wherever he’s been, non more so than in Scotland but with all due respect to the Scottish Premier League it’ll be difficult to know just how good he is until he tries his luck in the Premier League and Sunderland could do far worse than taking a punt on him I think.

With only a year left on his current contract it’s believed Celtic would prefer to sell now (if a new deal isn’t signed) than lose him for nothing next summer and £7m from The Black Cats could prove a very tempting offer?
