Duncan Watmore has had time to reflect over his miss at Anfield against high-flying Liverpool at the weekend and he says that he won’t let it bother him.

Watmore looked to be adding his name to the scoresheet against Liverpool in the first half of the game when he was through on goal, but the England under 21 star took the ball too wide to have an effort on target himself and the home side eventually cleared the danger.

It was just one of those things that can happen to any player whether it be a youngster like Watmore or an old head like Jermain Defoe.

But for now, Watmore is putting the incident behind him and looks forward to the next chance that comes his way.

Speaking to the Shields Gazette, Watmore said: “It was a very good chance and we worked hard to get that chance, and I`d have loved to have scored it.

“But you have to make sure it doesn`t play on your mind, and instead concentrate on improving your own game so that next time you do take that chance when it comes along.’

Sunderland were always going to be up against it at Anfield, Liverpool are turning into the type of side that won them everything in the 70’s, and even though the Black Cats went into the game with two straight wins behind them, Liverpool were still the overwhelming favourites to pick up the three points.

But Saturday brings another game and Leicester City are the visitors to the Stadium of Light, this must be seen as a good chance to notch up another win for Sunderland given that the Foxes are struggling to find last season’s title-winning form.
