Santiago Vergini looks like being a Sunderland player once again, this time on a permanent basis.
Word is that the Black Cats are close to signing the Argentine who spent the second half of last season on loan with the club.
Poyet is looking to bring in four players over the next few days and Vergini is one of the players that the boss has had his eye on right from the word go.
He told reporters: “We know Santi well, and he was always one of the first choices.
“It was him, Marcos and Fabio – all on loan last season – who have been close.
“When you know a player well, you know what he is going to add to the group.”

vergini does not excite me at all, although he did get better last season at the end
Vergini and Borini were with us last season. So how is signing the same players going to strengthen the squad
i thougth during the last five or six games of the season he was one of our better players, hes comfortable on the ball and when hes playing other teams didnt score. I even thought he was our best player when he was playing against liverpool he was the only one who showed some fight.
