Sunderland boss Gus Poyet says that talks with Fabio Borini are indeed back on.

Poyet has never lost hope in getting the striker to the Stadium of Light on a permanent deal although things looked glum last week when the player said he was happy at Liverpool and flew out to America with the rest of the Reds squad.

So the man that he Black Cats agreed to pay £14 million for looked to be out of reach, but now Poyet has told the Sunderland Echo that the move could be back on.

He said: “He is being assessed now for his shoulder injury. That`s stopped everything a little bit.

“We will see. I have not held talks with him, but the club has, although that`s private.

“We know where we stand.”

This one is just getting silly now. On, off, on, off then on again. Just sign him and have done or tell him to eff off.
