Sunderland host Barnsley with Roy Keane’s men hoping to end a run of four straight defeats.

Vital Quotes:

Keano:

‘Obviously the results we’ve had recently have been disappointing, especially with the way we’ve been conceding.

‘But we have a great chance to bounce back this weekend and give everyone a lift.

‘Home advantage is important because I’ve said since I got here that if we want to have a good season than we have to be hard to beat at home and aim to win as many games at our stadium as we can.

‘We’ve done that recently and we’ve got to keep it going.’

Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie:

‘Sunderland have some great players; Dwight Yorke and David Connolly up front.

‘They had a good run under Roy Keane but have dipped a little bit. They lost at Stoke in midweek but gave a good account of themselves.

‘As a player Roy always demanded high standards of players around him at Manchester United and for the brief time he was at Celtic. I’m sure he is the same at Sunderland.’

Sunderland Team News:

Lewin Nyatanga may make his home debut after signing from Derby yesterday, as defenders Kenny Cunningham and Steve Caldwell are still injured. Long term absentees Graham Kavanagh, Stephen Elliot and Stephen Wright are still out.

Player to watch: Dwight Yorke

The Trinidad striker is finally starting to show some class even if those around him aren’t. He gets better with each match and it is hoped he is at a level now where he can really dictate a game.

Barnsley Team News:

Paul Reid is set to return to the starting line-up after making a successful return from injury in midweek.

Paul Heckingbottom is available after suspension but Andy Ritchie may opt to stick with Robbie Williams at left back after impressing in the last match.

Player to watch: Michael McIndoe

The tricky winger can gave any full back a run for their money when on form, and Sunderland’s full backs have often been found wanting this term.

Match Prediction:

It’s about time Sunderland clicked and after several losses Roy Keane will be demanding only 110% in this match. 2-0 Sunderland.
