Sunderland missed out on signing goalkeeper Mika Domingues last night when it was revealed that the paperwork was not completed in time.

David Moyes had hoped to sign the Boavista stopper in a late deal that would have seen him come to the Stadium of Light on a two-year deal.

The blow leaves the Black Cats with just Jordan Pickford and Max Styjek as goalkeeping options, but it has been reported that regular keeper Vito Mannone could be back sooner than expected.

Mannone underwent surgery on ruptured elbow ligaments which proved to be successful and now the club can expect to see him back in action sooner than the three months wait they thought they would have.

Moyes had earlier in the day attempted to get John Ruddy from Norwich City, but the Canaries were having none of it while Crystal Palace were not interested in allowing Wayne Hennessey come to Wearside on a loan deal.

Cant see why we couldn’t find a goalkeeper, afterall we have had no trouble bringing in defenders.. Moyes seemed to identify the fact that we dont need a striker either. Well done Moyes. What a dipstick.
