Earlier this week Sunderland confirmed the permanent departure of Jeremain Lens to Turkish side Besiktas.
The 30 year old midfielder had been out on loan with the Turkish Super Lig side and they have now exercised the option they held on his future to make the deal permanent come the summer.
He remains officially on loan with the until June 1 and come that day and undisclosed fee has been agreed for his future services.
Having joined from Dynamo Kiev in 2015, he made a total of 24 appearances, with a return of three times but his time at the Stadium of Light was hardly bright and he spent last campaign with Fenerbache.
Not being fluent in Turkish there are a number of reactions from fans to this news, so let’s just say I’ll go for the few that I can print.

Is ‘luck’ Dutch or Turkish for ‘Riddance’?

Good luck SAFC??? More like good riddance, another football mercenary we had at the club

Even his greatest moment was followed by a truly pathetic uncalled for red card which cost the team 2 points…. ?? yeah good luck….

How can you say good luck to a player that went on record to say he wanted us relegated

It seems there’s blame for the player as well as an ill timed good luck from the club.
