After the weekends defeat at home to West Ham making it 4 league defeats out of 7 played this season, Keane has said Sunderland need to turn the stadium into a fortress again, like last last season, where we picked up 30 of our 39 points.

After a great win at Ewood Park, Sunderland failed to make it 2 wins in a row for the first time this season with the defeats to the Hammers, leaving both fans and Keane equally frustrated. ‘Another chance slipped by,’ said Keane. ‘I don’t think we have deserved to lose our last two home games but we have. In that situation, we have to learn to get a point at least. We’re finding it hard to score goals, it’s the hardest part of football.

‘There are no easy points in the Premier League, there is such a fine line between winning and losing.

‘It’s another home defeat and we’re not happy. If we had drawn the last two at home things would not look so bad, we’ve got to cut it out.

‘Our home form was vital last season and it will be again, even though we have done better away from home.’
