Ricky Sbragia saw his side, who seemed to play like ‘strangers’, beaten 3-0 at West Brom on Saturday and immediately admitted that they had let everyone down.

Victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns would’ve boosted survival hopes, but as it is the mauling left the Sunderland manager bemused by the performance and the result: ‘We let everybody down, we let ourselves down and we let the fans down,’ Sbragia told Sky Sports. ‘We’re scratching our heads to understand why we’ve put in a bad performance after the reasonably good performance last week, a committed performance and then today we seemed to be strangers.’

The victory for West Brom raises their faint Premier League survival hopes, whilst seriously denting the Black Cats’ own chances with trips to possible relegation rivals Bolton and Portsmouth and matches at the Stadium of Light against FA Cup Finalists Everton and Chelsea to come!
