Sunderland Chairman Niall Quinn has told how he is confident Keane will be at Sunderland for a long time to come.

Keane was recently been linked to the Chelsea job after it was vacated by Avram Grant last week.

Quinn told safc.com “I’m not overly surprised that Roy has been linked,”

“But rather than fret about it, I’d take it as a positive that we must be doing something right as a football club.”

“And remember, Roy is still under contract at Sunderland for next season and I’m pretty happy at this stage that he’ll be with us for a long time to come.”

Vital Sunderland Says

I can`t see Keane leaving the club when he still has plenty left do at Sunderland. He is building a good young side and will want to see the job through.

  • I fhe can get you through another season in the Premiership then I am sure he will be looking at a top half finish.

  • Not sure about Keano yet,he was brilliant in your first season, spent a huge amount this season but needs to get a better scouting system going, seems to be Irish guys and ex Utd players he’s limited to bringing in,heard him talk about expectations he has for players attitudes coming in,think he’s a little unrealistic, guys from mainland Europe aren’t going to sign for a love of Sunderland FC.Still think he’s got to wise up or he’ll end up on the managerial scrapheap like Robson.

  • His task is now to improve on last season. The money is clearly there, and faith in a manager is just what is needed at the highest level. Just thought with Birmingham gone now, it would be brillliant to see Mauro Zarate playing for Sunderland next season. Any thoughts?
